I can’t speak to the exact number of employers that know about the program or how they view it. Anecdotally, the program is used by various large and recognized real estate firms (e.g. Goldman Sachs, Marcus and Millichap) to train their new analysts and top universities (e.g. Columbia University, SMU) to train their graduate real estate students. We make a concerted effort to educate companies and individuals on the rigor of the program and quality of graduates that come out of it.

Great question. The Accelerator is a completely unique curriculum built specifically to teach you the right material, in the ideal order, so you can build your own real estate financial models from scratch. The program uses a case-based, building blocks approach to teaching the skill. The guys created the program in direct response to A.CRE readers asking for a systematic, straight-line approach to learning real estate financial modeling.

I highly recommend you read Spencer’s introduction to the Accelerator and listen to Spencer and Michael discuss why they created the program. You can find that here:

https://www.adventuresincre.com/accelerator-introduction/

In the above blog post, find the ‘Why a Real Estate Financial Modeling Accelerator?’ section to listen to their reasoning for the program.

The answer is both. You learn based on models Spencer and Michael have built for the program, but the goal is to enable you to be proficient and build your own models from scratch. The final three courses are meant to synthesize all your learning and have you build three models from scratch to reinforce all you have learned throughout the course.

The system does not restrict your ability to take courses in whatever order you please. Of course, we recommend you take the courses in order, as the later courses build on concepts taught in the earlier courses. Furthermore, in order to achieve the Certificate of Completion, you must complete all 17 of the Core Courses. With all of that said, many advanced members skip the earlier courses (e.g. Direct Cap Method to Valuing Real Estate or Calculating Key Metrics), preferring to focus on the more advanced concepts.

We have a course covering the hotel income statement within the A.CRE Accelerator program. The Accelerator teaches the foundational skills of real estate financial modeling, with a specific focus on the five major property types (i.e. office, retail, industrial, multifamily, and hotel).

Given that most sub-skills needed to master real estate financial modeling are agnostic to property types (e.g. modeling partnership cash flows, real estate debt cash flows, development cash flows, reversion cash flows, etc), the Accelerator does not focus on any one property type. Instead, it teaches the foundation upon which the Accelerator member can then build their own models within their respective real estate disciplines.
